Things to do

Learn more with our partner Austin PBS: Play the Oddsquad Games
Go on a number hunt – where can you find numbers in your home? Are there any places that surprise you?
Scavenger hunt – create a list of items for your child to find. 1 black sock, 2 rocks, 3 spoons, etc. Make it more challenging by asking them to find items previously considered to be lost.
Estimation – before you open the next bag/container of cookies, carrots, potatoes, etc – ask your child to estimate (make an educated guess) how many of the items there are. Open and count – did you estimate more or less than the actual number?

Ways to move

Count how many times you can do each of the following:

1. hop on one leg
2. stand on one leg and swing the other, while keeping it straight
3. jumping jacks

How long can you balance on one leg? And if you close your eyes and try again? Could you do it for longer than with your eyes open? What about the other leg?

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read, and what you did. What was the most surprising thing you learned about the ocean?
