The Junior League of Austin helps BookSpring Launch children into a World of Reading

The Junior League of Austin (JLA) is donating $3,000 to BookSpring to grow our program staff. This generous grant will allow us to increase staffing in delivering our continuum of literacy programs throughout Central Texas.

BookSpring is also proud to be a community project of The Junior League of Austin this year!  Fourteen members of the Junior League will help promote early literacy by supporting BookSpring with digital content (read aloud) and remote book labeling and counting.

Because Junior League members stay with BookSpring for an entire year, there is a wonderful opportunity for them to make a real connection with many of the schools and organizations they help support, which further adds to the impact of BookSpring programs.

Being a Junior League Community Project has many added benefits.  BookSpring staff benefit from the training offered by the Junior League.  Through the “Done in a Day” program, we can apply for assistance with much too large projects for us to accomplish on our own.  In the past, Junior League members have assisted with data entry for our annual Family Readathon and supported elementary school librarians with various programs.

There is also “Coats for Kids”—something we all look forward to.  Every December, the Junior League, and BookSpring distributed thousands of books to families at the “Coats For Kids” event.

The Junior League of Austin is a phenomenal group of women that brings so much to our community.  We at BookSpring are honored to work with the Junior League and can’t wait to see what these amazing ladies accomplish in the coming year!
