
We recently celebrated an exciting milestone: the print launch of our first six BookSpring Originals titles. This moment marked the culmination of months of thoughtful collaboration and commitment to families and children across Texas.
BookSpring Originals is an ambitious new publishing initiative rooted in our mission to increase access to high-quality, culturally relevant books. These beautifully illustrated, bilingual (English–Spanish) picture books were created first for the families we serve, supporting shared family reading, early vocabulary development, and joyful reading experiences at home. We are proud to now offer these titles to the broader community as well.

Behind each book is a dedicated team of authors, illustrators, and BookSpring staff who brought these stories to life with intention and passion, ensuring they reflect the languages, experiences, and identities of the children who will read them.
Highlights from the inaugural collection include:

Elephant at Aisha’s Birthday / El elefante en el cumpleaños de Aisha: Written by Amani Uduman, an Australian children’s author, and illustrated by her cousin Namalee Weeraseekara, a London-based graphic designer. A joyful birthday story born from a long-distance family collaboration during the pandemic.

Opposites / Opuestos: Written and illustrated by BookSpring’s own Julio Moreno. Follows Sol the Puppy and Luna the Kitty as they turn differences into playful discoveries.

ABC Geometría / ABC Geometry: Written by Edith Flores, an Austin bilingual educator and author and illustrated by a collective of nine volunteer artists, including BookSpring staff! Introduces letters and shapes in a variety of artistic styles.

The Little Mushroom Village / El pequeño pueblo de honguitos: Written and illustrated by Gemma Creegan, a British-Australian author and illustrator. Explores a whimsical village through the changing seasons.

Kevin the Dancing Frog / Kevin la rana bailarina: Written by Max Morris and his mom, Angela Morris, illustrated by Marian Sánchez. A story celebrating movement, imagination, and friendship.

Animal Adventure in the West / Aventura de animales en el oeste: Written and illustrated by Todos Juntos interns Flory Garcia, Flory Mejia, and Graciela Mora. Explores animals, musical instruments, and cultural discovery through rhythm and sound.
