I am an in-home childcare provider. I have been in this field for 25 years. When I arrived in the Denton County area reading was at an all time low in scores. My daycare took on this challenge and started to improve these scores. I was reading books. Working on vocabulary. Teaching letters to my students. I would work on having the students act out the books. Now that the reading level is improving, I am still on the mission to keep this bus moving. BookSpring has been a big help to me in getting books into the hands of families that don’t have books. This encourages the child to pick up that book and read it. I tell my students all the time how important it is to read. When they leave my program I hope I have planted that seed of the importance of reading.
