BookSpring Recommends: Let’s Read — Open Books for Families Everywhere
We’re excited to share Let’s Read, a wonderful free resource from The Asia Foundation that helps families discover and enjoy children’s storybooks in many different languages. It’s an open digital library filled with beautifully illustrated stories designed for children, parents, and caregivers to read together.
Let’s Read offers hundreds of books in dozens of languages — from English and Tagalog to Nepali, Burmese, and Vietnamese. Families can explore stories in the languages they speak at home, helping children connect their reading to their culture and identity. For multilingual families, there are also bilingual options that support both home and school learning. There is a log in feature where you can track the minutes read, and there are over 10,000 books arranged in 15 categories including Mighty Girls, Adventure, and Problem Solving.
All the books are free to read online, download, or print. You can even use them offline, which means storytime doesn’t depend on an internet connection. This makes it easy for families to read anywhere — whether at home, at the park, or on a road trip.
Each story in Let’s Read is created through local “BookLabs,” where authors, illustrators, and translators from across Asia collaborate to bring stories to life. The result is a library of diverse voices and authentic experiences that reflect the daily lives and values of families and children around the world.
At BookSpring, we love that Let’s Read supports our mission of helping families build strong reading habits together. Like us, they believe reading is something to share — a chance to connect, imagine, and learn side by side. Teachers and librarians can also use Let’s Read to find free bilingual books for classroom read-alouds, literacy nights, or take-home reading.
To get started, visit letsreadasia.org or download the Let’s Read app on Google Play or the App Store. Browse by language or theme, pick a story that catches your eye, and enjoy it together as a family.
We hope you’ll explore this inspiring collection and discover new favorite stories to share at home. Tell us what you find! You can tag @bookspringatx on your favorite platform or email us at give@bookspring.org
