Things to do Together
Here are some great activities to try with the whole family.
- Clean a styrofoam tray, push a straw into the middle of it and create a paper sail (cut a diamond, then fold it in half and glue it together with the straw in between). How well does your boat sail? What can you do to help it move faster (blow on the sail)?
- Why do boats float? Do some experimenting – collect a few objects and test them to see whether they will float or sink. Encourage your child to predict before you test each item. What do the things that float have in common?

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.
