Create a Lasting Legacy for Children and Families

Literacy is a long-term investment. A named endowment allows your generosity—and the values you want to carry forward—to support BookSpring’s mission for generations to come.

With a gift of $250,000 or more, donors may establish a named endowment benefiting the programs of BookSpring. Your fund can carry your name, honor a family member or loved one, or recognize someone whose life reflects a commitment to children, education, or literacy.

The principal of each endowment is invested for the future, while annual distributions provide reliable, ongoing support for BookSpring’s work. An endowment of $1 million, for example, could generate approximately $50,000 in annual support—enough to help provide as many as 25,000 books for children and families each year. These flexible funds help BookSpring place books in children’s hands, strengthen family reading habits, respond to emerging community needs, and maintain the people and systems that make our programs possible.

The Pat Fuszek Endowment

The Pat Fuszek Endowment, established in 1998, is BookSpring’s first named endowment.

The fund was created by Mr. Paul Andrews in honor of Pat Fuszek, the former Executive Director of Reading Is Fundamental of Austin. Ms. Fuszek served the organization tirelessly and faithfully for 18 years before it merged with Capital Area Reach Out and Read in 2008 to become BookSpring.

Her enduring commitment to early literacy reflects the reliability, resilience, and long-term impact of BookSpring’s work in Central Texas. Annual distributions from the Pat Fuszek Endowment continue to support BookSpring’s programs and services, helping ensure that children and families—especially those in historically underserved communities—have access to books and opportunities to read together.

The Pat Fuszek Endowment provides a meaningful example of what a legacy gift can accomplish.

Establish Your Named Endowment

We welcome conversations with individuals and families interested in creating a named endowment with a gift of $50,000 or more. Gifts may be made during your lifetime, through a multiyear commitment, or as part of your estate or other planned-giving arrangements. We suggest to speak with your financial and tax advisors, and are happy to work with them to craft the most meaningful gift for your contribution.

Contribute to the Existing Endowment

You may also contribute of any amount directly to supplement the BookSpring – Pat Fuszek Fund at Austin Community Foundation. The Foundation will provide you with further instruction and will let us know about your gift if you ask them to do so.
