Things to Do Together

Talk: What are feelings and emotions? Can you name some? Try to think of instances where you might feel: happy, sad, afraid, mad, nervous, excited, and any others! Check out the feelings wheel to try to identify more feelings you may experience. Una rueda en español está aquí

Write & Draw: Make a simple feelings wheel! Divide a paper plate into four sections. Have your child color and label each section (green = happy, blue = sad, yellow = excited, red = mad). Add a clothespin and set this feelings wheel where it can be seen every day. Please encourage your child to move the clip to where they feel and talk about why they feel that way and how to cope together. Credit for the idea here

Move Dance to the Feelings Song from PBS Kids!

Watch: the Feelings Song video and this Emotions video from Nick Jr

At the end of the week, reflect on what you read and what you did.

  • What did you learn about feelings this week?
  • Did you discover anything new about yourself or your emotions?
