Remember the last day of school? Anxiously waiting for the bell to ring? Thoughts of swimming pools and playgrounds running through your head?
Summer is supposed to be fun – a break from the routine of school and homework. Unfortunately, during this much deserved break, students can suffer from the “summer slide”. Not to be confused with something you can catch at the playground or water park, the summer slide can mean the loss of learning skills due to a lack of practice.
Research says that if a child reads between five to six books over the summer, they can maintain or improve their reading ability. A great way to keep your child reading is to check your local library for reading programs or try one of these great summer reading programs.
If you are heading out to your local bookstore, be on the lookout for some of these great titles suggested by our friends at Keller Williams. BookSpring will be posting reviews and blogs on these books throughout the summer, so stay tuned.
