Pages of Pets!
BookSpringers know that pets can be an important part of the family. We all love our cats, dogs, fish, birds, and more. They can be real, borrowed, or even pretend.
This week is a time to learn more about the different animals we can have as pets.
Before you begin: Did you have a pet as a child? Tell your child a story about your pet. If you didn’t have a pet, tell them about what kind of pet would have wanted to have. What did you do with your pet? How did you take care of them?
Even Bibi, the BookSpring butterfly has a pet!

Ways to Move Together
Simon says: Pet edition! Pick someone to play Simon. Everyone else must do what Simon says: “Simon says, Move like a cat/dog/fish/etc!” “Simon says, Make a noise like a cat/dog/fish/etc!” If Simon doesn’t say “Simon says,” but just a direction, and someone does it, then they are out for a round, or you just start again. Play again and again, with wilder and wilder pets “Simon says, Walk like an elephant!” “Simon says, Make a noise like a pet duck!” as you go.
Share Together
Reflect on what you read and did at the end of the week. What did you discover about pets? Did you learn about an animal that you didn’t know could be a pet? Did you learn anything new about the pet that you already have? Is there anything about pets that you’d like to know more about?
