Ah, it’s finally summer! Bibi here, your book-loving butterfly friend. One of the things I love most about summer is I can read all I want, anytime I want, anywhere I want! I can read before lunch in my bed, or read outside after dinner. Where is the craziest place you would read? How about in a pool? Or on the steps? Or in the grocery store? Ah, think of all the places we could read, together!

Things to Do Together
Talk: Discuss what you might be when you grow up and how reading could help you achieve that. Do you want to be a police officer? A teacher? A mathematician? A mayor?
Write: Create a summer reading “bucket list”. Make a list of the types of books you want to find and read, and check them off as you go! For example, you could add “Read a funny story,” “Read a book borrowed from a friend,” “read a book by a new author,” or anything else you can think of! Check out your local library for book suggestions
Move: Get outside and visit a pool or splash pad! Check out your local YMCA for swim lessons, and if you live in Austin or Travis County, here is your local YMCA swim website, and various public pools around the city are here: https://www.austintexas.gov/page/pools-splash-pads
Explore: Do clouds always look the same? Do you know that different clouds have names and can tell you more about the weather?
Read: Keep track of your summer reading progress with BookSpring here!
Share Together
At the end of the week, reflect on what you read, and what you did.
- What fun summer activities would you like to plan?
- What types of books are you excited to read this summer?
